As I have always loved traveling, I decided to do my practical semester abroad. By spending time abroad, I hope to learn a few things in practice that will help me on my way as a future plant breeder. I have to complete an practical semester in the 4th semester of my agricultural economics degree. Among other things, I would also like to further improve my English I also hope to gain an insight into a new, foreign country. Furthermore, I want to get to know new people with new cultures, new food, a new environment and always look forward to the unexpected things. Of course, I hope to be able to do some of the work for you on your farm and to support you wherever I can.

After I stopped working as a teacher, I spent 1 year travelling around my country and being a volunteer in some natural/ permaculture farms. I got myself healed and connected to the people and things in those environments. Then I got a chance to have a working holiday visa and I set out for a farther journey here. I have been in Australia for nearly 1 year. For this 1 year I have worked as a picker/ packer at farms in NSW and QLD in order to make enough money for my journey. It was such an experience and I have learnt a lot about life lessons by living and working with so many other backpackers. I really appreciate that. However, business farms and massive food production are never a suitable environment for me. I always seek for a natural and self sufficient lifestyle and want to learn more about how to build it on my own. That's why I registered for being a wwoofer. I don't mind hard work and will do my best to help out at your farm. It would be good if the place is well organised, quiet and harmonious because those are the values I cherish as well. Thank you for considering and having me as your wwoofer.

City/Town: Cygnet
Farming Methods: Biodynamic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building
We are set on the beautiful hills of Cygnet, just a short 4km drive from the township of Cygnet.  We have 47 acres, with 35 acres of pasture  and the remaining is bush. There is a creek running through the property, 3 dams, one cat and around 30 sheep.  Wwoofers have their own separate modern accommodation (photos are shown in the gallery).  We need help with gardening, weeding, fencing, housework, regrowth of riparian area, planting veggie gardens and other general responsibilities - we are pretty flexible so can work with your skillset/experience.  We are looking for 25 hours help each week.  We are a friendly family, with one teenage boy and evening meal will be eaten with family.

We want to join WWOOF to immerse ourselves with different hosts: eating, talking, and sharing activities with them. We are ready to contribute and work in various fields, such as planting, harvesting, domestic tasks, and working with animals. We are particularly fond of domestic and farm animals, especially cats 😉 The main reason we choose WWOOF for our future experience is to develop our English skills. WWOOF is a great opportunity to be accompanied in a country that is unfamiliar to us.

I have finished working in Melbourne after four months and would like to get around and see more of Australia, especially the rural areas, before my visa expires in October. I do not have prior agricultural experience so I am very excited by the opportunity to gain new skills and develop a better understanding of how farms function. I fear I have been spending too much time inside in Melbourne so I am looking forward to improving my fitness too! I am ready to start work as soon as possible and happy to work anywhere!

In my gap year I would like to travel and I think WWOOFing is a perfect opportunity to get to know the everyday life in a country and do something I will probably never do again in my life. By WWOOFing I hope to meet new people and make new experiences.

Joining the WWOOF community has always been a dream for me. I would like to learn more about farming during my trip and contribute to meaningful projects. If I could develop handcraft skills during this journey, it would be a + for me.

First of all, through wwoof, I can learn a lot of life skills and knowledge that the school will not teach me. I also want to live and work with the landlord in rural Australia to understand the most authentic Australian culture and knowledge, and I want to put myself in the nature and learn from the nature. Although I have learned good English in school, but I think it is not natural enough. I hope I can learn the most natural English from the life with the host family.

Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, BYO Accommodation
For 40 years now, on 940 acres of diverse plateau-edge forest with spectacular gorge pools and waterfalls, we two zoologists have created an off-grid, solar, gravity, wood and people powered - experiment in sustainable food gardening and land, fire and wildlife management. We have lots of food gardening  activities happening at the moment and excss produce is being donated to several disaster relief and global care charities each week. We are also helping out on other exciting  local plateau community projects such as the Oxygen Farm ( conservation reserve), the Elands Company (an old sawmill now used for community events) and our creative bush fire recovery "recombobulation" project at the local community health centre. Volunteer hours are flexible, tasks varied, and diet mixed,  with loads of in season fresh fruit, vegies, nuts and a  big selection of delicious preserves from the large caged gardens/orchard and landscaped swales. Accommodation at the house is in 2 rooms, one with 3 single beds and one with a Queen bed but you can also choose to camp close by if you have that gear. Can pick you up from public transport at Wingham/Taree/Port Macquarie. Min stay 1 week unless you have own transport. Long stays are welcome as we love having visitors, sharing stories and showing them our beautiful river and plateau environment.

I learned about the WWOOF organization from my bestie, and after hearing about her experience milking cows, I immediately became interested and wanted to experience farm life! I yearn for a life in nature, away from skyscrapers, away from the disturbance of electronic devices, wanting to empty and heal myself, and to feel the purest joy. Of course, I have also mentally prepared myself and have done some research and understanding of the farm's ecological environment. I am a very serious person when it comes to work and have a strong ability to learn. I believe I can quickly adapt to the farm environment and get the hang of farm work, helping everyone share the workload. For me, this is not only about learning a skill but also about having a completely different life experience, which is an indispensable part of life's journey. I believe that during this process, I will be able to clarify many things that are currently causing me anxiety, and learn to view problems and life from a completely new perspective. I also consider this as a great opportunity to experience the local customs and culture of Australia, to make new friends, and to work and play together. I would also be happy to share some Chinese customs with everyone, and if you're interested, I can even show off my cooking skills by preparing a few Chinese dishes, haha! In summary, I really hope to have this opportunity to become a member of WWOOF and to spend an unforgettable time with everyone.

Located in Macclesfield, Vic, Royal Meadows Farm is conveniently located between the Dandenong Ranges and the Yarra Valley and is surrounded by rolling hills, farms and natural bushland. An easy and scenic drive to delightful towns such as Olinda, Sassafras, Gembrook, Yarra Glen, Warburton and Healesville, Royal Meadows is the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful part of Victoria. The main activity on our 20 acre farm is the Royal Meadows Equestrian Centre where we agist and train horses. The horses are managed according to equi-central and land regenerative principles. We grow our own hay for the horses and all manure is composted and used either in the veggie gardens or spread on the fields to help replenish the soil. In addition to the horses we also run a number other farming activities – namely breeding a small flock of Suffolk sheep, growing a small orchard, vegetable gardens and raising bees. Careful management of cross grazing different livestock means deep-rooted, healthy pastures, which also leads to rich organic material for gardens and trees. Royal Meadows is built on principles of sustainable living, regenerative agriculture, self-sufficiency and equi-centric horse training. The property is powered by off-grid solar electricity and sustained with the help of captured rainwater. Bush areas have been reserved for native wildlife and as such Kookaburras, rosellas, blue wrens and cockatoos are common and the property is also home to wombats. Don’t be surprised if you also see kangaroos, soaring wedge tailed eagles and the occasional echidna. The accommodation consists of a cosy two-room wing of the house which has both private and shared entrances, a bedroom, private bathroom and lounge area with small kitchenette.

Koala Hill Flower Farm is situated near Toowoomba (40 km N) with beautiful soil but nature is our best asset! A small portion of our property of 100 acres is devoted to growing dahlias and native foliage for florists. We do not use nasty chemicals and try to work with nature to provide a high quality product. Our little piece of paradise is home to koalas, wallabies, bandicoots and over 100 species of birds. We have a secluded remnant rainforest, spring fed creek and beautiful eucalypts that tower above the palms. We would welcome an individual or a couple into our home and treat them like family. There are local national parks nearby and we are just a bus trip from western Queensland and the outback to explore using our home as a good base. We are flexible and would consider a study and stay person but you would benefit greatly to have your own transport although public transport is nearby. My husband and I would welcome someone that wants to learn some of the skills we have learnt and we can learn of you too. Wake up in the morning to the sounds of beautiful birds and go to sleep at night to the sound of owls hooting and frogs calling. We have one spare room so we can host one or two people. We would prefer people to be able to communicate in English and prefer non smokers. Please feel free to call or arrange a zoom to ask questions and discuss how we can help make your stay in Australia memorable!

Working and living in farm is on my bucket list, as it must be one of the very best way to experience lifestyle in countryside. I am also interested in picking up new skills (farming, gardening, animal care, etc.) which I never tried before. As a solo-traveller, joining WWOOF could let me make friends with host and other WWOOFers, I am happy to share my story!

We are located on the dry inland side of Mount Tambourine on 5 acres of dry sclerophyll forest, which is mainly an eucalypt open forest with shrubby understory. It's fairly steep land, with a small clearing for the house etc. A lot of the forest has invasive weed species, which we are slowly removing / managing areas. We have just moved here and have set up an organic veggie garden along with some existing citrus trees. We are slowly expanding the veggie garden, including planting a variety of fruit trees etc. As the surrounding properties are relatively undeveloped with most of the original forest remaining, it is lovely and peaceful, with an abundance of birds and wallabies. We have 2 cats (kept inside at night), 3 chickens and 3 goats.

Because I would like to gain agricultural experience.WWOOF provides me an opportunity to learn about farming practices, from planting and cultivating crop to tending livestock. I can work on themselves in the daily routines of organic farms, honing their skills under the guidance of experienced farmers. I can acquire not only practical skills but also developing a greater appreciation for the importance of sustainable farming methods. I can experience something I’ve never before. And I would like to communicate with local people and the friends I meet there. I like meeting people from all over the world. I would like to become friends different cultural background. I want to share my culture with others. And I want to expose myself to diverse perspectives and improve myself. Beyond the during WWOOF, I we can find strong connection. In WWOOF there's no exchange of money, so I can enjoy and work it purely.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
